Tandeef, the street cleaningand city beautification arm of Bee’ah – an intergrated environmental and waste management company, has been commissioned by Sharjah Municipality to ensure a costeffective and environmentally sound solid waste collection and city beautification service to Sharjah residents.

The agreement, signed by Bee’ah’s CEO – Khaled Al Huraimel and the director general of Sharjah Municipality- Sultan Al Mualla; cements a formal long-term working arrangement which will also see Bee’ah manage the emirate’s landfill site operations for the next 20 years.

Under the agreement Bee’ah will be responsible for waste collection, re-use of materials which would otherwise be disposed of in landfills, introduction of further recycling initiatives; as well as encouraging international standards of waste source separation and recycling practices.

Khaled Al Huraimel added that Bee’ah is currently in the process of finalising and signing agreements to takeover the management and operations of the landfills in the eastern provinces of Sharjah, and is potentially looking into expansion plans to the other emirates. Bee’ah is also planning to also launch a Residential Recycling Programme this year, in which it will distribute green and blue bins in homes across Sharjah. Linked to this, the company is also planning
to purchase new equipment to transport the recyclables collected throuugh these bins.

Climate change patterns impacted by anthropogenic activities are likely have long-lasting effects on future generations. Preservation of air quality and prevention of its deterioration is hence imperative to the protection against threats posed by climate change, as well as protection of human health caused by noxious pollutants.
